Ivo Andric (Dolac, 1892-Belgrade, 1975) Yugoslav novelist of Bosnian origin, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961 and one of the greatest writers of his country.The son of a Croatian family from Sarajevo, after studying in the Bosnian capital and in various universities (Vienna, Zagreb, Krakow), he was part of the Mlada Bosna, a socialist-inspired patriotic organization, for which he was Ivo Andrić was Yugoslavia's best known and most successful literary figure, and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1961. He was born to Antun Andrić and Katarina Pejić near Travnik on 9 October 1892, but spent most of his childhood in the town of Višegrad. Ivo Andric was one of the famous writers in the world and a distinguished diplomat. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961. He died on March 13, 1975.
